Fiber Post and Core
What Is Fiber Post and Core Treatment?
Fiber post-treatment is a technique used when tooth loss is excessive. A dentist will suggest a fiber-post treatment when a significant chunk of teeth have been destroyed, and additional support is needed to support the small portion. The remaining amount is so tiny that it is impossible to fill it. Treating with a solid root is sufficient in cases where all parts of the tooth have fallen off.
The Procedure
The decayed or broken tooth is first treated with root canal therapy before the fiber-post treatment. Root canal therapy may cause fractures in the tooth to occur when too many tooth portions are lost. If no substances are lost in the tooth after the root canal treatment, the remaining tooth is saved by filling. During the fiber-post treatment, support is obtained from the tooth’s root after the procedure. A fiber bunch is placed on the tooth’s supported area. On this bunch, a dental filling is used.
Benefits of Fiber Post Treatment
Fiber post treatment improves fracture resistance by supporting the crown and root of the tooth.
When the root is supported well, implants are not needed, as fiber-post treatment is generally performed with no tooth extraction.
It ensures the treatment of tooth tissue losses and the restoration of solid tissue.
